Fulham Football Club is an English football club founded in 1879. The club is headquartered in the Fulham area of London and competes in the English Premier League.

Fulham is the oldest professional team in the City of London. Fulham was founded in 1879 by the Church of England in West Kensington under the name Fulham St. Andrew's Church Sunday School. Until now the church is still there with a plaque at the entrance to commemorate the establishment of the team.
The name of the club was then shortened since 1888 under the name Fulham. Fulham started playing at Craven Cottage in 1896 and began stripping off his amateur uniforms in 1907 when he successfully won his ticket at Leaguer's Football by winning the title of South League champions for the second time.
Fulham's first win in England's top soccer competition was carved at Derby County's Baseball Ground with a score of 1-0 on 7 September 1907. At this time, the club was led by Henry Norris, who was also listed as an indirect funder of Chelsea.
The Cottagers play with white shirts and black pants that are known to have been used since 1903. Over the years, Fulham is better known as the bottom division team of English football. When the team was handled by manager Alec Stock, Fulham appeared surprisingly by qualifying for the FA Cup final in 1975.
In the final, they were defeated by West Ham United In the era of Premier League achievements the club experienced ups and downs. They were relegated to the third division in 1994 and two years later came in 17th place out of 24 teams.
After the appointment of Mickey Adams as manager, The Cottagers could be promoted again and later after being tackled by Kevin Keegan and Jean Tigana bringing Fulham uphill quickly to the top lever position.
In 1997 the club was bought by Egyptian businessman Mohamed Al Fayed. Al-Fayed's arrival brought change to Craven Cottage. This Egyptian billionaire overhauls the squad and does a revolution that changes the face of the club as it is today.
Al-Fayed picked up Ray Wilkins's duet, as team manager, and Kevin Keegan, as Chief Operating Officer, with a target of breaking the Premier League within five years. At that time, Fulham still struggling in Division Two.
After a disagreement about the selection of players, Wilkins finally retreated and Keegan held full control of the team. Fulham successfully won the Football League Championship in the 2000-01 season and is entitled promotion to play in the Premier League.
After promotion, Fulham never degraded until this season. Although never won the Premier League, in 2010 Fulham almost became UEFA Europa League Champion but was defeated by Atletico Madrid in extra time. Until now the final in Hamburg is the best achievement of Fulham in European competition.
The best achievements of this club in the domestic arena are as finalists in the FA Cup (1975) and UEFA Europa League (2010), 7th position in the English Premier League 2008-09 season, and the quarter-finals in the League Cup. While the team's best performances in the European football scene are to win the Intertoto Cup (with Málaga CF and VfB Stuttgart), and runners-up to the 2009-2010 UEFA Cup after they beat Atlético Madrid 2-1 in the final.
