History The origin of Bima Werkudara Mahabharata

In the epic of Mahabharata it is told that Pandu can not make offspring due to the curse of a rishi in the forest. Kunti (wife of Pandu) exclaimed to Bayu, the god of the wind. From Kunti's relationship with Bayu, Bima was born. On the grace of Bayu, Bima became the most powerful and affectionate person. In childhood, the power of Bima is unmatchable amongst the children of his age.

The power is often used to menjahili his cousins, namely Kauravas. Duryodana-one of Kauravas-hated the attitude of Bima who was always ignorant. The hatred developed into an intention to kill Bima. One day when the Kauravas and Pandavas went on an excursion in the Ganges, Duryodana served food and drink to Bima, which had been mixed with poison.

Because Bima was not suspicious, he ate the food. The food made Bima fainted, then his body was tied firmly by Duryodana by using creeping plants, then swept into the river Ganges with a raft. When the raft carrying the Bima to the middle of the river, the snakes that live around the river peck Bima body.

Miraculously, it can turn into an antidote to the poison that Bima eats. When conscious, Bima immediately release the bonding creeping plant that wrapped around his body, then he killed the snakes that bite his body. Some snakes save themselves to meet their king, namely Antaboga (Dragon Basuki). When Antaboga heard the news that the son of Pandu named Bima had killed his men, he immediately welcomed Bima and gave him a drink, whose bowl had the strength equivalent of ten elephants.

Bima drank seven bowls, so that his body became very strong, equivalent to seventy elephants. Bima stayed at Naga Basuki's palace for eight days, and after that he came home.

In his teens, Bima and his brothers were educated and trained in the military by Drona. In studying weapons, Bima focuses more on mastering the science of using mace, as Duryodana. They both became students of Baladewa, the brother of Krishna who is adept at using guns. Compared with Bima, Baladewa is more fond of Duryodana, and Duryodana is also loyal to Baladewa.
